RTG Slots Software Review

A closer look at the RTG Slots software review. Real Time Gaming an accomplished casino game platform providing great casino games for years.

Opened in 1998

RTG originally opened their doors in 1998. In the early days they wanted to be different and they initially studied what the other software companies were doing and were on the right path.

During the days of the early 2000’s there were only a handful of companies supplying online casinos games. Some people claim part of RTG’s success came from being one of the first to offer complete back-end systems. This allowed a number of operators to get up and running with their turn key solutions must faster. RTG had become known as the lower cost solution to start a casino and the list of casinos using their software grew.

More Than Just White Labels

It became quite apparent quickly that a simple white label solution was not enough and RTG became more strict on who they would license their software to. As the casino wave was starting to experience explosive growth things were about to change.

Black Friday Changed Everything

Enter the UIGEA (the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act) a bill supported by some in congress that wanted to upset the online gambling industry, a day that became known as Black Friday.

Over the next few years the industry would see a few software operators pull out of the US altogether. Software providers such as Playtech and Microgaimng would limit their licensees to either restrict play from US residents or lose their use of their licensed software. Also during this time RTG moved most of their operations from Atlanta to Costa Rica. Later they ended up moving some offices to the Netherlands but still do have some staff in each of the locations.

Instead of this damaging the big 3, we think it actually helped all 3 become stronger as each company now focused more of their energies on global markets with a more targeted approach.

RTG Continues to Serve US Players

RTG continued to serve players in the US and continued to experience growth with new licensees. They continued to release new games on a semi frequent basis and their game list grew.

Real Series Slots Become Popular

With the release of the Real Series group of slots many players suddenly had new favorite. Although many of them have a lot of the same features with different game symbols, some players liked this and just felt more lucky with some titles over others.

Also during this time frame many more titles appeared in their slot lineup included a random jackpot. In fact to this day slots with random jackpots are much more common than 10 or 15 years ago.

Continuing to Develop and Innovate

RTG didn’t slow down and continued to try and stay on the cutting edge and innovate the industry with new ideas. Although it might be cheesy to state, but we think this statement from their corporate site says it best.

We employ some of the best people in the industry, seriously talented people with a deep understanding and passion for the gaming business. This mix of talent, passion, and experience drives the business, and our commitment to innovation keeps us at the cutting edge of the industry.

Seems pretty appropriate.

Consistent New Game Releases

Development staff has continued to release new games utilizing new ideas all the time. Over the course of time the list of games offered in RTG has grown and now easily crosses the 250-300 range. This includes their lines of slots, video poker table games as well as what has been become known as specialty games.

Technology Changes Adjusts Game Lineup

As mobile devices become more and more popular software companies have had to adjust to the changes in technology which had effects on the lineup of games. Also when flash support ended at the end of 2020 RTG did have no choice but to remove a handful of game titles from their instant play, but each of those titles are still available in the download client.

Featured RTG Slot Game

Below we feature a brief introduction to one of the many rtg slot game reviews provided. To see a full list see our RTG game reviews here.

Progressives

Although we mentioned the random jackpots above, we did not bring up the really big network progressives. RTG has about a dozen really big network progressives. Progressive jackpots are jackpots for a specific game that continue to grow slowly over time until someone wins it. The network progressive expands that a bit since it is not limited to a single casino. Contributions for the jackpot is added to by players at many casinos in the “network” thus the prize can grow to some very considerable amounts.

Often some of the progressives on the RTG games are in the hundreds of thousands of dollars, and it is not shocking to see winner pick up much more then that in a big win.

Tournaments

RTG has been fairly successful helping operators run tournaments as well. Most casinos will have tournaments of specific games or sometimes even have certain periods of time where you can be in a tournament and pick up extra prizes during the course of playing regularly. They have fairly easy to understand leader boards and often easy qualifications to be involved in one.

Tournaments can be pretty exciting especially if there are a lot of enthusiastic players, and RTG software is a good fit.

Bright Future

It appears that they plan on continuing to release new games and keep the players coming back. No doubt that the more choices players have the easier they will be able to find games they enjoy. We wish both RTG and the casinos that use their software luck and keep that list of games growing. At last count it was over 300 games.

RTG Slots Software Review Conclusion

There is little doubt how popular RTG software has become over the years, And for US players, they have come to expect to see their games in many casinos. Often slots lovers will have a list of slots they go to every time no matter what casino they visit. And more often then not, RTG games will populate that list frequently.
